I always search google images if nothing good comes up on a normal search, it is generally easier to find the right type of site.

I also find it useful to pretend I am writing the article I’d like to find and type in a sentence as I would write it.

Any other tips?

We’ll take using speech marks to find an exact phrase as read.

When I click on a search result, it redirects me to a different site. It usually takes about three tries before I can get to the correct page.
Is this something new with Google? The redirected sites are usually commercial. Or is there a setting I need to change on my browser, IE 7?
This happens with every search result I attempt to open. The first two clicks take me to a redirected page and the third click finally takes to the right page.

I don’t think this has anything to do with web hosting.

When I do a google search via Firefox’s inbuilt search box, it shows me results from Google Japan. My companies internet gateway is in Japan, so I guess it thinks I’m in Japan. How can I make it return results from plain google.com, or google.com.au?

In the past, when I would type in a few letters I would get some of my past searches popping up, but I would also get “suggestions” based on popular searches that other people had made.
