How do I set up a partition for Linux?

I want to install Fedora on a separate partition alongside Windows. I currently have two partitions. a 1.8 GB partition, and the rest is allocated for windows. How do I shrink the partition for Windows in order to make a partition for Linux?

See my answer in your other Linux question.
Having seen both your questions, do you really want to install Linux on your drive? You may find that it is enough to use it on a ‘Live CD’. There are many versions that let you do that, e.g. Fedora, Ubuntu, Suse, etc. Linux is great (using it right now), but not everyone’s cup of tea (neither is Windows).
Depends on the Linux Distribution, if you get the LIVECD (where you startup your computer with the CD and boot from it) and then install. Most Linux distributions have a partitioner to resize the windows partition..
First download an .iso file of the Linux you want
Burn the Linux CD
Boot your computer with the Linux CD in drive.. Make sure you boot off the CD
Find the install on the Linux version…
For an example I have included a link for steps in Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy)
