    1. in response to ryan if you buy a cooler it will void the warranty and you wont be able to get it repaired for free…
    2. I wold recommend you just being careful with it and don’t play it for more then 4 hours straight to avoid the RRD.

Don’t get an intercooler, as it voids the warranty.

Keep it in a clean, well-ventilated area.

Make sure the power brick is on a flat surface and is right-side-up, to ensure proper ventilation.

Don’t move the Xbox when you are playing a game, as it will damage the game

Newer XBOX 360 have different cooling that is supposed to help prevent RROD. That said, they still are not perfect.

I wouldn’t “play it for 4 hours max”. I would play it as much as you can so that if it breaks you can take it up with Microsoft. They have extended their warranty on XBOX 360’s with RROD issues to 3 years. (That started summer 2007, so do the math)

Keep it well ventilated, avoid using it in the standing up position, flat is much better for the drive. That’s about all you can do.

1: Keep it off the carpet and not close to the walls give it space to breathe (putting it on the carpet or close to a wall will just trap the heat making the console overheat)
2: Also put your power brick away from walls and carpet.
    3:Play from only 2-4 hours
4:Face a fan to it to blow the hot air away.
5:Never buy an intercooler because it will just make your console worse and voids your warranty.
