When were the google maps satellite photos taken?
Mike t asked:
specifically for northern California
the date you are referring to is just a year and that is copy right info not the date or year of the photos. the ones in my area are between 2003 and 2005(i know this by construction of some areas). i was hoping someone had some insight or a more accurate time frame

Usually you can see a date (year) on the pictures if you zoom in close enough. It could be any time in the last 2 years… How do you expect us to know?
In Google Earth, find your target. Under layers, expand ‘Digital Globe Coverage’. Starting from the most recent year, checking each box one at a time. One layer will overlap your area. Zoom out and it will tell you the month and the year the picture was taken.
