There are three basic options for invitations to “Events” in Facebook, “This event is open,” “This event is closed,” and “This event is secret.”

If you want, only YOU will be allowed to invite people to the event. To do this, at the bottom where it says “access,” click either “This event is closed” or “This event is secret.” Closed means that only you can invite people but everyone in your network can see the event, and secret means that only you can invite people AND only the people you invite will be able to see the event. Additionally, if you select “closed,” then the people you invite can REQUEST your permission to invite others.

If you want it so that anybody can invite anybody, where it says “access” at the bottom select “This event is open.”

Finally, under “options” it says “Let guests know they can bring friends to the event.” This enables your guests to invite people (who perhaps aren’t on Facebook) to the event. Uncheck it if it’s a closed event.
